DENVER -- A Denver police officer faces a 30-day suspension for an incident that was caught on video in July.

Investigators say officer Choice Johnson was off-duty and working security at the 1-Up bar in Denver when he pushed a man down a set of stairs.

Johnson told investigators the victim was a threat.

But the investigation revealed the man's hands were in his pockets at the time of the incident, as caught on a surveillance video.

The victim initially was charged with police interference and resistance. Those charges have been dropped.

Johnson is appealing the suspension, which is scheduled to begin Sunday.
