DENVER -- If you ever complain about aging roads or crumbling bridges, Thursday is the day to “Stand Up 4 Transportation.”

Organizers will do just that with a parade and rally in downtown Denver.

RTD and its transportation partners such as the Colorado Department of Transportation say the current federal transportation funding bill expires at the end of May.

Without renewed, long-term funding, aging roads and bridges won’t get the maintenance they need.

New projects won’t start or will stall, and public transportation such as light rail and the bus system won’t be expanded and could face cuts.

The unity parade starts at 10 a.m. at 16th and Market streets and the rally follows at Union Station.
