DENVER -- By its very nature, a lot of law enforcement happens after the fact. Police respond to a crime after it has taken place. And then the job is catch the criminal.

But Denver is at the forefront for a new approach to crime fighting that could create seismic changes in law enforcement. Investigators say what is happening here actually helps stop shootings before they happen.
