Teenage girl killed in comic book store car crash identified, store to hold benefit auction

DENVER -- A 17-year-old girl has been identified as the victim who died after crashing a car into a Mile High Comics store in Denver on Sunday morning.

The Denver medical examiner's office identified the girl as Karen Lopez.

She was pronounced dead at the scene near North Jason Street and East 46th Avenue after the accident at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Lopez was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed. The medical examiner's office said the girl died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Mile High Comics will host a benefit auction to raise money for the family of Karen Lopez. There will be hundreds of donated toys, action figures and comics available. All proceeds will help with burial costs.
