MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police say a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting his 92-year-old girlfriend.

The woman’s daughter, who lives next door, told police when they arrived that she heard her mother screaming, “Let go of me, you’re hurting me,” WMC reported.

Thomas Standley reportedly became angry and pushed the daughter out the door. The daughter said she could still hear her mother yelling at Standley to leave her alone.

Police say the 92-year-old woman told them Standley was mad at her because she “didn’t want to take her medicine.”

The woman claims Standley grabbed and squeezed her arms, choked her and violently shook her. She declined medical treatment and added that Standley “hurts her all the time.”

Standley was charged with domestic assault and assault.
