GLENDALE, Colo. — Police arrested a suspect Monday night who was wanted in the fatal stabbing of a woman.

Severiano Almendariz was in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing in the 1100 block of South Birch Street early Monday morning, the Glendale Police Department said.

Glendale police responded about 6 a.m. to a residence and found a deceased 40-year-old woman who was identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office as Nora Reachel Deleon.

A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued for the 55-year-old Almendariz , who was only considered a person of interest.

But after conducting a search warrant, Almendariz became the primary suspect and an arrest warrant was issued.

Almendariz was tracked to an unknown apartment complex where he was found hiding in a laundry room about 9:45 p.m. and taken into custody without incident.
