AURORA, Colo. — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening in a collision near the intersection of Iliff Avenue and Blackhawk Street, police said.

A motorcyclist was heading east on Iliff about 5 p.m., the Aurora Police Department said. A silver sedan with four people inside was heading westbound, making a left turn onto South Blackhawk Street at the same time. The motorcycle struck the right-front quadrant of the sedan, ejecting the motorcyclist onto the street and inflicting fatal injuries.

All four people in the sedan were hospitalized, but were expected to recover.

Eastbound Iliff was closed for investigation, as were both directions of Blackhawk.

Excessive speed on the part of the motorcyclist was thought to be a factor. The incident remains under investigation.
