DENVER -- The North Metro Drug Task Force raided multiple locations in the Denver metro area Thursday morning as part of a year-long investigation into a large-scale cocaine and methamphetamine operation.

The raids put more than three dozen suspects in jail including the ring leaders, according to police. "There's a leadership component we were able to identify and arrest today and then street level dealers. It's getting into our schools, neighborhoods. It's getting everywhere," Sgt. Jim Gerhart of the North Metro Drug Task Force said.

"This is a group that basically had the ability to get their hands on pounds of meth and cocaine and heroin." Sgt. Gerhart said.

Police seized hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of drugs and weapons.
