WILMINGTON, N.C. -- An Air Force veteran is demanding an apology after someone left her a nasty note on her car, slamming her for parking in a spot reserved for veterans.
According to WECT, Mary Claire Caine walked outside after finishing a routine grocery trip at the store Friday. Caine, who spent four years in the Air Force and spent time stationed in Kuwait, was shocked at what she found plastered to the front window.
It was a note that said: “Maybe you can’t read the sign you parked in front of. This space is reserved for those who fought for America … not you.”
Caine said that for a second, she questioned herself for parking in the spot.
“I thought, ‘Am I a worthy enough veteran to park in this spot?' And then I got very angry at myself for even considering that,” she told WECT.
Caine figures that the person who wrote the note didn’t realize she was a veteran because she is a woman. But she still says the writer owes her and all female service members and veterans an apology.
