LOVELAND, Colo. -- A 4-year-old girl died Wednesday after falling into an icy pond at Loveland Sports Park.

The Loveland Emergency Communications Center received the 911 call at 5:43 p.m. Emergency services personnel tried to resuscitate the girl, but attempts to save her life at the hospital were unsuccessful.

Police say the girl, identified as Naomi Delgado of Loveland, was at the park with her family for soccer practice. She was playing at a nearby playground and then walked onto the pond ice and fell through it.

When her father didn't see her at the playground, he searched for her and found her in the pond. He got her out of the water and people at the park tried to help her until paramedics arrived.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital where she later died. An autopsy determined that she died of accidental drowning and hypothermia.
