TORPOINT, England — A 5-year-old boy who RSVP’d to a friend’s birthday party but didn’t attend because the family realized it had made other plans got something unexpected.

A bill.

According to the Plymouth Herald, Alex Nash, 5, was invited to the party at a ski and snowboarding facility. Alex’s parents told his friend’s mother he would attend the party, but then realized they had other plans for the day, so Alex missed the party.

Days later, the boy came home from school with an envelope in his book bag that contained an invoice from his friend’s mother for a “child’s party no show fee.”

The total was about $24.

The family first thought it was a joke, but then found out it wasn’t as the mother threatened to take the family to small claims court.

Alex’s family also claims the children won’t be able to play anymore.
