Weld County barn destroyed in early-morning fire

WELD COUNTY, Colo. — A barn was destroyed in an early-morning fire in Weld County on Wednesday.

The barn near Highway 66 and Weld County Road 1 northeast of Longmont was fully engulfed when crews arrived just after 1 a.m., the Mountain View Fire Rescue said.

Officials said 21 firefighters from five departments worked to put out the fire by 5 a.m.

Besides Mountain View Fire Rescue, crews from Longmont Fire, Berthoud Fire Protection District, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Frederick Firestone Fire Protection District worked to put out the fire.

There were no injuries, but the barn was delcared a complete loss.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
