DENVER — It turns out that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning played the latter part of this season with a significant injury.

It was reported Monday that Manning has a torn quadricep in his throwing arm. The Denver Broncos said he has a strained quad, and that if it was torn he would not have been playing. The reports say Manning played the last month of the season with the injury.

The injury could certainly play a part in Manning’s decision to come back or retire.

He still has two years left on his contract with the Broncos. He’s scheduled to make $21.5 million each of the next two years.

Manning isn’t the only Broncos star with a big question mark at the moment.

Some of the biggest names on the team are heading for free agency during the off-season, so the Broncos have all kinds of major decisions to make.

Demaryius Thomas is coming off the best season ever for a Denver wide receiver. He’s due for a big pay day.

Tight end Julius Thomas is also expected to land a huge contract.

Wes Welker, Orlando Franklin and Defensive captain Terrance Knighton are also unrestricted free agents.
