DENVER -- Two Denver police officers and one suspect all went to the hospital Friday night following a traffic stop that ended with an altercation and shots fired in Montbello.

It happened at 51st Avenue and Crown Boulevard, near Montbello High School just before 8 p.m.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said two officers in one cruiser made the stop in the 5000 block of Crown Boulevard. The driver and the officers had an altercation of some kind.

The officers felt their lives were threatened and they fired shots at the suspect according to Jackson.

All three went to the hospital, after one officer was hit by a car.  An officer remains in the hospital Saturday night with non life-threatening injuries.
