Snowboarder dies after hitting tree at Keystone

KEYSTONE – A 26-year-old Silverthorne man died Saturday morning after apparently crashing into a tree while snowboarding at Keystone, officials said.

Eric Haiar was found by the ski patrol along the Spring Dipper run. He was suffering from blunt force trauma, rescuers said. Haiar was reportedly wearing a helmet.

Haiar was hospitalized, but did not survive. It was not immediately known whether the accident happened on Saturday or Friday.
