Driver, 23, dies after SUV crashes into South Platte River

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A 23-year-old man died Wednesday morning after his SUV slid off a road and into the South Platte River.

The crash was reported about 6:30 a.m. when another driver slid out on York Street near East 63rd Avenue and saw the Nissan SUV upside down in the water.

The man was able to get out of the vehicle and was found downstream. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The Colorado State Patrol said it was a single-vehicle accident and no other parties are involved. The man’s identity was not released and the investigation is continuing.
