AURORA, Colo. — A barricaded suspect prompted a SWAT team response, street closures and emergency phone notifications to residents Saturday afternoon in Aurora.

A felony menacing suspect, believed to be armed and dangerous, was located inside a home in the 1300 block of Florence Street, the Aurora Police Department said. When police arrived at the home looking for him, other people came out, but the suspect apparently remained inside, APD said.

Florence Street was closed in the area, eventually firing a less-lethal foam round through a window. He still refused to come out, police said. A reverse emergency notification call went out to nearby homes, warning them to stay indoors, police said.

About 5 p.m., police deployed CS gas into the home. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Mario Lopez, was subsequently found in a crawlspace and arrested.
