LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- Five years after the nation watched a family who lived in Fort Collins try to steal fifteen minutes of fame with the "Balloon Boy" prank, a Colorado high school is set to debut a musical based on the strange chain of events.

"Balloon Boy the Musical" will open at Monarch High School on Thursday night. The show, which turns the 2009 hoax into a comedy, is the creative work of a New York teenager and a high school drama department.

"The musical, it's not pro-Heene family, but it's not against them either," said Billy Recce, the creator of the show who began writing the story when he was just eleven years old. The musical features a cast of several students from 9th to 12th grade.

The show is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the door.
