Suspect arrested following attacks on women near Wash Park

DENVER -- Police arrested a suspect Sunday night following a pair of attacks on women in the Washington Park area.

One woman reported being attacked by a black male in the area of Bayaud Avenue and Emerson Street about 6 p.m. Sunday, the Denver Police Department reported.

About 6:15 p.m., a second woman reported being attacked by a black male wearing a blue flannel shirt and a ski mask in the area of Alameda Avenue and Pearl Street. That victim ran into a nearby convenience store seeking help.

A short time later, a black male wearing a blue flannel shirt was spotted allegedly breaking into a car in the area. He was arrested after a foot chase about 7:35 p.m. One officer suffered minor injuries during the pursuit, DPD said.

Officers said the suspect shoved the officer and it resulted in his injury.
