DENVER — Sunday’s Rock and Roll Marathon will be an epic experience for thousands of runners, but not nearly as pleasant for Denver motorists.

Widespread street closures will likely make for tough driving across a large swath of the metro area, with most closures lasting from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Bannock Street will be closed from West 13th Avenue to 14th Street until 6 p.m.

Cars will generally not be able to cross the route, and pedestrians will need to wait for gaps in the action, which could mean waits ranging from minutes to hours.

Parking will also be prohibited along the route, with cars being towed at the owners’ expense.

More than 15,000 people are expected to participate in the event, planners said.
