WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- A man who crashed his car Friday night on U.S. 36 had been shot prior to the crash, the Westminster Police Department reported.

The man's vehicle crashed about 8:30 p.m. on eastbound U.S. 36 near 80th Avenue. A short time later, someone called to report that a man suffering from a gunshot wound had walked to their home near the crash site, looking for help.

Police determined that this was the same man from the crash. The incident was believed to have been a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting.

Investigators had few clues Monday night about a suspected shooter or why the shooting happened.

The shooting victim was expected to survive.
