DENVER — A Denver man was arrested Saturday on charges that he barged into an apartment belonging to his girlfriend’s son and threatened to kill the younger man, eventually shooting him in the leg.

Rodney Lewis, 49, allegedly knocked on the door of Samuel Knox’s apartment in the 2100 block of South Trenton Way about 11 p.m. Friday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office reported. Knox, 37, opened the door and recognized Lewis as his mother’s boyfriend, deputies said.

Knox said an argument ensued and Lewis pulled a handgun. He reportedly pointed it at Knox’s head and threatened to kill him. He fired twice, hitting Knox once in the leg, deputies said. The suspect then fled.

Knox was expected to recover from his wounds.

About 12:45 p.m. Saturday, police located Lewis and arrested him without incident, ACSO reported. The suspect was carrying a pistol at the time of his arrest. He faces a variety of charges including attempted murder.
