LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. — An Amber Alert was issued Saturday evening for two young sisters who are believed to have been taken by their mother,  who has lost her parental rights.

Kallisha Hughes, 30, allegedly took Kiarah Hughes, 5, and Brooklyn Hughes, 3, by force from their legal guardian’s home near Durango, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said. The suspect may be headed to Alto, New Mexico.

The girls were under the care of their aunt until their father is released from jail after being arrested Friday for violation of a restraining order, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office said.

The girls and their mother were found traveling in Lincoln County, New Mexico, late Saturday. The children were safe, and the mother was arrested.
