DENVER -- A sinkhole is expected to cause some big backups along South Colorado Boulevard at East Exposition Avenue on Wednesday morning.

The sinkhole isn't that big -- a few feet wide and 10 feet deep -- but Denver Public Works still hasn't patched it up and it's covered by a metal plate and surrounded by cones.

The sinkhole caused big backups on Tuesday afternoon. Crews say a permanent fix likely won't be in place until sometime Wednesday afternoon.

Northbound Colorado Boulevard is down to two lanes and the turn lane from northbound Colorado to westbound Exposition is closed. There is no word on what caused the sinkhole and why crews didn't work on repairing it overnight.

The area has many businesses and offices. Colorado is a major thoroughfare through Glendale that connects Interstate 25 and Cherry Creek.
