Denver police officer’s gun, badge stolen from personal car in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Someone broke into a Denver police officer’s personal vehicle in Jefferson County and stole a duffle bag with a handgun, police badge, ID card and radio inside of it.

The bag also had numerous other pieces of equipment and personal property belonging to the officer.

This happened in the 9000 block of West Cross Drive during the overnight hours early Monday.

The car was locked. The suspect broke a window and took the bag.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware and how to respond if they’re unsure an actual officer is trying to stop them.

  • Continue driving to a well-lit, populated area
  • Call 911 to confirm the stop is authentic
