Crews remove van that fell into sinkhole caused by water main break

DENVER — A water main break opened a sinkhole Friday morning, and a van that was parked on the street was swallowed into it.

The sinkhole in the 3600 block of Oneida Street happened about 8:30 a.m., Denver Fire said.

No one was in the van as it went into the sinkhole.

Crews eventually pulled the van out of the hole as they continued to assess the damage.

In all 20 homes are affected by the break, and Oneida is closed between 36th and 38th avenues.
