Kindergartners could be taught sex education in Nevada

LAS VEGAS — Kindergarten students may soon learn more than just coloring techniques. The school district in Las Vegas is floating the idea of teaching them sex education.

There’s a new proposal that’s written for students in Grades K-through-12. It covers topis like dating, pregnancy, marriage, reproduction and much more.

“I was sick to my stomach. My wife and I read it, we’re sick to think elementary age kids would be exposed to these types of things,” says parent Ronald Withaeger.

The school bard says the program lists topics and schools can choose what to teach to whom. There will be a parental survey to see if they agree.

Board trustees say everything will be evaluated before any sex education program is implemented.
