ARVADA, Colo. -- Some students at high schools in Jefferson County walked out of classes to protest Tuesday morning, with protests planned at other high schools.

Students at Pomona, Arvada West and Ralston Valley high schools walked out of class in a show of support for their teachers and a new Advanced Placement history curriculum that has been called anti-American by some conservatives.

Since Friday, students have stood together in opposition to a Jefferson County Board of Education proposal to review the curriculum.

On Monday, 100 students, mostly from Evergreen High School, marched to district headquarters in protest, this coming after many teachers at Standley Lake and Conifer high schools called in sick or took vacation days Friday, forcing the district to cancel classes for the day.

Despite the unrest, the district hopes to move forward soon.

"I think that there's other ways that we can work through these differences," Superintendent Dan McMinimee said.

McMinimee met with the students after Monday's protest. He told them he has received no complaints about the curriculum but also said the school board has a right to ask for a review.

yOU ARE TOTALLY IRRESPONISBLE, TAMHEAD, AND SHOULD BE FIRED.
This is first and foremost about what is best for the kids, not the teachers. Not showing up to teach handicaps those kids, and shows them that they too can be irresponsible.
    I hope you get fired.

Faking Sick is a dischargeable offense in any industry

These HS kids really do not care about how or what they are taught in American History. Students didn’t care 10 years ago, or 20 years ago.

this is about immature teachers complaining that they cant get a bonus even if they are rated as below standards.

Future teachers – in case you haven’t heard, you only work 9 months of they year and you only get paid for 9 months of they year …..

Current teachers – did you not know the pay scale when you decided to be a teacher, or did someone force you to be a teacher?

Do any of you understand exactly how the teachers are rated? It is a ridiculous formula which makes no sense at all. Teachers don’t have any issue with being accountable. The have issue with how they are rated. Get a rating system that works as nd teachers will be on board!!

Not really: McGraw-Hill School Education – United States Government — Now the Current Text in the state of Texas after pulling this exact ‘investigation’, finding the text not suitable and creating their own text.
Text Book mentions Moses and claims that the“biblical idea of a covenant, an ancient Jewish term meaning a special kind of agreement between the people and God,influenced the formation of colonial governments and contributed to our constitutional structure.”

    What’s Wrong?
The American Founders did believe in asocial contract, but their version of that contract was derived primarily from modern British political thought, and John Locke’s thought in particular. Since Locke’s version of the social contract was in many ways a repudiation of the biblical covenant view referenced in this passage, this passage provides the student with almost the opposite of the historical truth.
