COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The man who shot and killed his neighbor’s family pet during the weekend will not face any criminal charges.

Emily Martinez, the owner of the dog that was killed, told FOX31 Denver Tuesday night that a Commerce City police detective came to her house with a letter that said there is insufficient evidence to file any charges in the case.

The man who shot the Clifford the dog says Clifford jumped a fence and ran toward him and his dog. He then shot Clifford.

A memorial for the Martinez family’s pet is growing on the sidewalk where the dog died.
