Woman upset at boy playing clarinet allegedly points rifle at kids
CLIFTON, Colo. — A western Colorado woman was arrested after she allegedly pointed a rifle at several children in her neighbor’s backyard because she didn’t like that a boy was playing his clarinet outside.
Cheryl Ann Pifer, 60, was arrested by Mesa County sheriff’s deputies, who believe she was drinking before allegedly threatening the children on Wednesday, the Daily Sentinel reported.
The newspaper reported the boy told Pifer that he was playing the clarinet as part of a homework assignment and that he could not go inside his grandmother’s home because a baby was sleeping.
Six other children were in the backyard and they said Pifer pointed a gun at them and yelled “Fire in the hole!” as the children ran away.
The rifle was not loaded and was identified as a 7mm Mauser, sheriff’s deputies said.
Pifer was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on four counts of felony menacing, seven counts of reckless child abuse with no injure and one count of prohibited use of a weapon.
She is out on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to be in court Sept. 19.AlertMe
