DENVER — The Denver Broncos made a trade with the New York Giants Tuesday for kicker Brandon McManus.

Denver will get McManus in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft choice in 2015.

The team also waived rookie kicker Mitch Ewald.

McManus is a first-year player who made both field goals he attempted and recorded touchbacks on 10 of 11 kickoffs for the Giants during the preseason. He spent 2013 with Indianapolis where he made the only field goal he attempted, a 50-yarder.

He played college football at Temple University.

The NFL suspended Broncos kicker Matt Prater for the first four games of the season for violating the terms of an alcohol abuse program.
