BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder Transit Center was evacuated for a short time Monday morning after a suspicious package was found shortly before 10 a.m.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., Boulder Police spokesperson Kim Kobel confirmed that the suspicious package was nothing more than a makeup bag.

In addition to the transit center, nearby Walnut Street was also closed at 14th Street during the bomb squad investigation.

Considering that just a day earlier, significant crowds lined the streets in the area where the bag was discovered for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which started its final stage in Boulder before finishing up in Denver on Sunday, it seems emergency crews were understandably suspicious.

There was no immediate word on what sort of impact the temporary evacuation would have on bus schedules for the rest of the day Monday.
