DENVER — Thirteen children were briefly hospitalized Sunday evening, reporting feeling sick after coming into contact with water from a hotel swimming pool.

The multiple-patient incident began at a pool at Homewood Suites, 4210 Airport Way about 8 p.m., Denver emergency radio dispatchers confirmed.

The children ranged in age from six to 17 years old, Children’s Hospital reported. They were treated and released by morning, a spokesperson said.

The incident was classified as a medical issue, not a hazmat event, police said.

Some parents were reportedly watching the children at the time.

The hotel confirmed that some swimmers had left the hotel complaining of sickness.

The cause of the sickness was under investigation.
