WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A fourth-grader was suspended from school because he brought a Nerf gun in for show-and-tell, his father says.

Ramsey McDonald of Warner Robins, Ga.,  was given what he thought was a fun assignment: Bring in some of your favorite toys to talk about.

“They were trying to get the kids to know each other,” his father, Scott McDonald told WMAZ.

The boy told his father he was going to bring in his iPad and a couple of toys.

But a couple days later, McDonald got a call from the school.

“They told me my son brought a weapon to school and they asked me if I was aware,” McDonald told the station. “I asked them what it was and they said it was a plastic Nerf gun.”

Ramsey was initially suspended for three days, but the punishment was reduced to in-school suspension.
