DENVER -- Boulder County received a check for $1.1 million Wednesday afternoon. It's an advance on more than $3 million in reimbursements the county has requested from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

It's the first payment under a new program to expedite disaster relief payments to counties and communities impacted by the devastating flooding that happened in September 2013 in Colorado.
