Severe weather over Colorado

VILAS, Colo. — The storm system that flooded streets and damaged some homes and businesses on the Front Range is blamed for killing a man in Colorado’s southeastern corner.

The Baca County Sheriff’s Office says 84-year-old Donald Falconburg died when his trailer collapsed in strong winds late Tuesday night. It happened in the community of Vilas just east of Springfield.

911 dispatch received a call early Wednesday about a house that was demolished in the storm. “Upon arrival of emergency services it was confirmed that mobile structure at 35995 County Road CC.5 which was attached to a block foundation was completely destroyed,” a statement from the Baca County Sheriff’s Office says.

The National Weather Service is studying the strength of the wind at the time.

The town of Eads on the Eastern Plains, which has been experiencing severe drought, received 6 inches of rain Tuesday. Light rain continued to fall in the region Wednesday.
