Police gathered outside a Lakewood home after a man barricaded himself inside on July 10, 2014.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Police were outside a Lakewood home Thursday morning after receiving reports that a man had barricaded himself inside after threats were issued.

Reports about the situation at the home, which is just south of West Mississippi Avenue between South Garrison Street and South Wadsworth Boulevard, began surfacing around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Police said that threatening texts and emails had been exchanged between family members inside the home, and officers worked to evacuate those individuals when they arrived on scene.

One individual, however, refused to leave the home, police said, and officers were continuing to try to make contact with that individual after 9 a.m.

Police said the remaining individual inside the home may be armed, but they could not confirm that information as of 9:30 a.m.
