N.Y. mom charged in baby’s death: ‘I didn’t want him anymore’

ELMHURST, N.Y.  Detectives say mother Nicole “Nikki” Kelly told them she killed her own baby boy because she had “reached her breaking point.”

Now she is in police custody, charged with the second-degree murder of her 11-month-old son, according to affiliates WPIX.

The child, Kiam Felix, Jr., was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after Kelly, 22, brought him into the emergency room with the boy’s father, who does not live with them.

Instead, Kelly and her baby boy rented a room from another woman, who also has a two year-old boy. She described the child as a happy baby.

Every photo of little Kiam on Facebook shows him looking sweet and happy. Some of the photos are particularly disturbing based on information conveyed by Kelly’s housemate.

The housemate told WPIX that she’d seen Kelly on Sunday afternoon with the body of her lifeless baby, just before he was taken to the hospital.

Little Kiam was dressed in a completely white outfit — vest, collared shirt, necktie, pants and socks, identical to the wallpaper photos on Kelly’s Facebook page.

Below that photo banner, Kelly had posted, in part, after her son’s death, “Missing my baby boy so much wish there was some way I could bring him back to life I feel horrible knowing he passed away. Am [sic] his Mother. I was supposed to protect him.”

It’s likely then that the pic was taken after his death.

Police at 110th Precinct reported to district attorney’s office investigators that Kelly, formerly a home health aide, wrapped her baby so tightly in a bed sheet Sunday that he couldn’t breathe or move.

She left him alone on the bed for a half hour, while she showered.

After he turned blue, Kelly called the boy’s father.

After she was taken into custody, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, she told investigators, “I reached my breaking point, I didn’t want him anymore.”

She is currently expected to make a first appearance before a judge on the murder charge on Wednesday. If she is found guilty, she faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

We’ve become such a disposable, I don’t want to, society. It’s so easy to throw away relationships, cars, animals, jobs…. why not children!!!

Is the conspiracy the head smashing thing, because THIS story seems legit. If so, I hadn’t heard of that. Usually, the conspiracies seem a LITTLE more believable, especially given that more and more states opt to care for inmates rather than stay with the “eye for an eye” principle. Ask Chuckie Manson! As for this deal, the bleeding heart crowd are already suggesting that the “poor woman” was a victim of post-partum depression, no doubt brought on by our illegitimate exploitive Capitalist Society. (The … no doubt … part of the statement was my sarcastic addition.) There IS NO accountability. As for Old Coyote’s off-color remark, understand that Zeke Emmanual, who could be considered a sort of architect of the ACA, wrote extensively about health care rationing and the future need to curtail medical treatment for those whom we had not yet “invested” our precious education resources on, as well as those whose contributions to society were necessarily on the decline. The ages he used were under 24 months and over 45. This was BEFORE he advised Obama on Obamacare. Look it up.

You can’t let the fear of society rob you of potential loves :-) I felt the same way but when i look around,i notice its people like us, whose children out do and out smart the rest of them, they are the survivors like us that will grow up with those same values and keep them going! :-) *Blessings

You are one sick puppy. Not even something you should joke about, if that’s where you were going.

      • Old Coyote

No, I’m not joking, tragically enough. Google “Peter Singer infanticide.” I disagree with him, but am polite and shut up because, well, far be it from me to force my views on anyone else.

@Old Coyote, “am polite and shut up because, well, far be it from me to force my views on anyone else” – nice! You’d have been the most popular kid in the class during the Holocaust! smfh

I can’t have children, which I DESPERATELY want. We spent tens of thousands of dollars on infertility treatment and finally adoption — stories like this make me so sad. ;( If parents had to go through what we went through to finally have a child, maybe they would cherish them more.

There’s so many people who can’t have babies and want ’em so badly and this b***h kills hers. If you don’t want your baby give it to someone who does!!! No child should have to be treated like that!!!! I hope she gets life!!!!

Such a cute baby boy. Give him away to the hospital, fire department, a friend, whatever but don’t hurt the child. Taking away a life especially one that hasn’t even begun is heartless and cruel. Just stop doing this. Give your child a chance to live.

It saddens me that this little boy had to go through this. He didn’t have to go through it at all. It really ticks me off we have people like her in this world. If you ” didn’t want him” you should of went to a local DSS or family member on either side something! I have 4 children and never in my wildest dreams have I thought of hurting them. Parents are suppose to love and protect children not hurt them and play god with their lives. But in the end you will get what is coming to you KARMA does come back around

Ain’t no such thing as Karma.
If you believe so, I have other myths to sell to you. Any religion will do.

How is taking a child to an emergency room or church and giving it up for adoption LESS shameful than murdering the child? I just don’t understand the reasoning.

I can’t seem to find any stories that should be of main concern to Americans of the government shipping the flood of illegals to other states and not telling local authorities OR about people in active military service getting pink slips AND that a government report shows the government gave $100 billion in fraud and unauthorized payments…I guess your corrupt and biased FOX 31 NEWS thinks it’s more important to know about some social B.S. in NY.
