DENVER -- On one of the hottest Colorado days of the year, a father was accused of leaving his young children in a car.

Denver Police say Tony Rogers, 25, was cited Sunday for leaving his 2- and 4-year-old kids in the vehicle.

Authorities said Rogers told them he was working in the 4300 block of South Balsam St. and couldn’t take them inside.

It's not known how long the children were in the car before the anonymous tip was made to Denver Police.

Authorities said that when paramedics arrived, the children were “lethargic, but not injured.”

The father was cited for child neglect.
