DENVER — A homeless man sleeping in a Denver alley was hit by a recycling truck, police said Wednesday.

The man was in the alleyway between Lawrence and Larimer streets near 33rd Avenue, said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

He was beneath plastic sheeting and the driver did not see him, Jackson said. The man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Jackson said the truck driver, who works for the city of Denver, was not cited and was cooperating with investigators.
