DENVER -- Denver Police responded to an attempted kidnapping on Cleveland Place Saturday.

According to a crime alert from the Denver Police Department, the young victim was walking behind a family member in the 1500 block of Cleveland Place when a man picked up the child and began to walk away.

The family member saw the incident, which prompted the male suspect to put the child down and flee, police said.

Detectives described the suspect as a white male, middle-aged with black, tangled hair and unshaven with a light mustache -- police released a composite sketch of the suspect based on this description.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
