DENVER — Here are your 10 Things to Know for Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

1. Storms put on show, cause damage

Lightning lit up the sky over the metro Denver area on Monday night, but it caused downed trees and property damage, and the loss of power to thousands.

2. Boy Scout ranch in Huerfano County evacuated

A Boy Scout ranch in Huerfano County that was heavily damaged by the East Peak Fire in 2013 and renovated was evacuated because of flash flooding.

3. Search continues for missing Fort Collins man

An Air Force helicopter will be used to help look for a missing Fort Collins man. George Gosden was reported missing by his family Saturday and suffers from dementia.

4. President Obama coming to Denver

President Barack Obama will arrive in Denver this afternoon ahead of a speech Wednesday at Cheesman Park followed by a fundraiser for Sen. Mark Udall.

5. Bailey teen kills bear

Rose Hill had an encounter with a black bear that had broken into the family garage in Bailey The teenager was face to face with the bear and dogs chased the bear but now a competitive shooter, she shot the bear three times, killing it.

6. Child who drowned in Chatfield Reservoir identified

The Douglas County coroner identified the child who drowned in the Chatfield Reservoir Saturday as a 4-year-old from Littleton named Andres Patrick Sena.

7. Sleeping fan sues ESPN

A fan who was caught by ESPN cameras sleeping at a New York Yankees game is suing the network because the announcers ridiculed him.

8. Chicago Police superintendent blames gun laws on shootings

Chicago’s police superintendent said lax state and federal gun laws were to blame after the Fourth of July weekend saw more than 60 people shot and nine killed.

9. Roller coaster derails

Four people were injured and nearly two dozen people were left hanging after a roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California hit a tree branch and derailed.

10. Man busts two women trying to steal beach gear

A man taped two women who were trying to steal his beach gear on a Florida beach on the Fourth of July weekend. After getting caught red-handed one of the women turned violent.
