DENVER -- Tens of thousands crowded into Civic Center Park in downtown Denver for the Independence Eve celebration and fireworks show.

People were jammed into the entire area between the City and County Building and the State Capitol.

As dusk started to fall, the crowd was treated to a concert and light show while they waited for darkness and the fireworks.

Thank you, Civic Center Conservancy and sponsors!
Was well done and great fun!
(Smelled only a few whiffs of marijuana smoke.)
Sound mixing was terrible. The melody of our National Anthem could not be heard at all.
Then, in subsequent pieces, soloists could hardly be heard.
Compared to the singers whose sound was LOUD and from speakers ALL AROUND,
the Denver Concert Band was hardly heard with sound coming just from the front.
In the piece honoring our armed forces personnel past and present, their theme songs should have been identified.
