AURORA, Colo. — An off-duty Denver Police officer was injured early Friday morning after a suspected drunk driver rear-ended an unmarked police patrol car in a construction zone.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. on the eastbound Interstate 70 ramp to Pena Boulevard, forcing the closure of the flyover and the implementation of alternate routes to Denver International Airport.

The road reopened just before 5 a.m., in time for the morning commute.

The officer, driver of the car and a passenger were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Medical cannabis has been legal since 2000. Recreational cannabis has been legal since the end of 2012. Recreational cannabis sales has been legal for over 5 months. Still I see drunks causing most of the problems on the roads. Stoners, a couple of times, so for this year, but drunks several times a week. Interesting.
