Man found dead in Sterling home, wife missing

STERLING, Colo. -- Police responded to a medical call at a Sterling home Thursday afternoon and found the body of a 70-year-old man.

Officers from the Sterling Police Department found Charles Roger Severance deceased in his home at 409 S. 3rd Ave. in Sterling Thursday.

Investigators said they were unable to locate Severence's wife, Shirley Anne Severance, 70, who also lives at the home.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office, Logan County Coroner's Office and the 13th Judicial District Attorney's Office joined Sterling Police in the investigation.

Authorities said they are concerned for the safety of the deceased's missing wife.

Shirley Severance was described as 5-foot and 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police said they wish to locate her for questioning and to conduct a welfare check.

The investigation team said they do not believe there is any threat to the general public.
