Jennifer Broome takes us to a magical spot in southwest Colorado.

In the small town of Gateway, which is southwest of Grand Junction, is the only resort in the world that sits at the confluence of five canyons.  Gateway Canyons Resort was started by John Hendricks, founder of the Discovery Channel.  He was on his way to buy a ranch in New Mexico, but thanks to an ad in the Wall Street Journal, he made a stop to check out a ranch for sale in Gateway, which he bought in 1995.

John retired from Discovery Communications this month but isn’t slowing down.  He is launching the Curiosity Project with retreats at Gateway Canyons Resort.  The retreats bring together people from around the world who have achieved something great in their careers.  The retreats are not just scientific think tanks.  Instead, the retreats and Curiosity Project web community will bring together folks who are curious and seeking knowledge in a variety of subjects.

Curiosity Project luminaries include people like Michio Kaku, Deepak Chopra, Glenn Close, and Wynton Marsailis.  Membership in the Curiosity Club web community will run about $20 a year.
