1. State patrol trooper recovering after I-70 shooting

A Colorado State Patrol trooper is in critical but stable condition a day after he was shot after stopping to help a motorist on Interstate 70 at the east end of Glenwood Canyon. The motorist was shot and killed by another trooper.

2. Union Station has grand opening

The remodeled Union Station that includes a new bus concourse will have a grand opening Friday. Besides a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Gov. John Hickenlooper, there will be a street party with booths, games, food trucks and live music.

3. Longmont crash kills two, closes Highway 119

A two-car accident Friday morning killed two people and injured two others in Longmont, forcing an hourslong closure of Highway 119 (Ken Pratt Boulevard), a main road in the city.

4. Mother’s Day snowstorm bearing down

A snowstorm that could bring anywhere from 3 to 9 inches of snow in the metro area is targeting the Front Range, with up to 1-2 feet possible for the foothills and mountains.

5. Broncos go defense in draft

The Broncos selected Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby with their first-round pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night. The second and third rounds will be Friday, with rounds 4-7 on Saturday.

6. Racist fliers posted in northwest Denver neighborhood

Denver Police are looking for who might have posted some racist fliers in the Highland neighborhood. Just days ago, residents of a Five Points neighborhood received racist letters that targeted an elderly black woman.

7. Hiker finds woman’s body on Lookout Mountain

Authorities are investigating a suspicious death on Lookout Mountain after a hiker found a woman’s body along the Windy Saddle Hiking Trail.

8. Bacterial infection linked to hot tub at Aurora gym

Health officials are investigating a bacterial infection linked to a hot tub at a Bally Sport in Aurora. Experts say two people contracted Legionnaires’ Disease after being around the hot tub-sauna-pool area.

9. Peeping tom suspect arrested; linked to sexual assault case

Brandon Heginger, 22, has been identified as the suspect in a peeping Tom case at the University of Colorado and he has been linked to another case the same morning in Boulder.

10. Dog finds, rescues 3-year-old boy

A family dog is being called a hero after he found and rescued a 3-year-old who had wandered away from home in North Dakota. When search teams found the boy hours later, he was found safely tucked under his dog, who was shielding him from rain and wind.
