JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -- Authorities are investigating a suspicious death on Lookout Mountain. A spokeswoman with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the woman is a murder victim.

A hiker found her body along the Windy Saddle Hiking Trail Thursday morning.

Investigators say it is the body of a white woman with dark hair between 20 and 40 years old.

According to police radio communications, the person who reported finding the body is a retired police officer who said the woman had been stabbed.

"We don't know if the crime occurred there [on Lookout Mountain] or if the body was left there. We do know it's not a suicide or natural death," says spokeswoman Jacki Kelley.

It's a popular area and detectives want to talk to anyone who may have been near the area during the last couple of days.
