WASHINGTON — Four African lion cubs at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo passed a swim test Tuesday that was needed so they can be put on public display.

The four 10-week-old cubs were able to navigate through the moat and climb to dry ground.

Zoo officials say the test is needed so the cubs know how to get out of the water and to the shore.
