HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS, Colo. — A former Grand County building department employee is under arrest and faces more than 900 felony charges after $500,000 was stolen over the course of 12 years.

An arrest warrant was issued for Brigid Irish, a former administrative assistant, and she turned herself in Tuesday afternoon then was booked into the Grand County Jail, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said. Bond was set at $20,000.

Irish is facing 932 charges, including 915 counts of embezzlement of public funds, 12 counts of forgery, four counts of theft and one count of attempting to influence a public servant — all felonies.

Irish worked in the department from 2001 until November, when she was fired when the missing money was discovered and an investigation was launched.

She is the only person to have been arrested to this point in the case, the sheriff’s office said.
